A FOUR day cruise of the Greek islands and Turkey departing from Iraklion every Monday night.

The history of Rethimnon is lost in the depths of time. It seems that the area was first inhabited during the prehistoric period (1350-1250 BC.), the name of the town was then, Rithimna. The gold and silver coins found from the fourth and third century BC. point to a golden age of this ancient city during this period.

Hydra was once home to seafaring merchants who built Italian-style villas overlooking the harbour. Wander along the traffic-free waterfront, lined by shops, taverns and bakeries. Then ascend the hills on a donkey and enjoy splendid views from the Monastery of St. Constantine.

Piraeus is the port for Athens, where you can step from the shadow of the Acropolis into the world of the modern day Olympics. Sip a coffee with ouzo and join the Greeks in a toast to a new "golden age".

Mykonos is the most sophisticated of the Greek Islands. Near the colorful town of winding streets, charming whitewashed houses and posh boutiques, you'll find perfect beaches to visit. For archaeology lovers, the sacred site of Delos is nearby.

Visit the cave where St. John wrote the Book of Revelations and the nearby monastery with its priceless manuscripts and jewelled robes. Or take an insider's tour of Patmos including the 300-year-old House of Simandris.

Iraklion, the capital town of Crete and its principal commercial port is just three miles away from the fantastic ruins of the Palace of Knossos. Discovered in 1899 by Sir Arthur Evans and partialy reconstructed, the elaborate palace is believed to be the mythical Labyrinth of King Minos and the seat of ancient Minoan Culture. The Archaeological Museum of Iraklion displays many of the treasures found during the excavations.

Witness Ephesus-one of the greatest cities of antiquity and one of the best restored on an optional tour from Kusadasi. Walk along the marble paving, you can almost hear the steps of marching Roman region or the ardent preaching of St. Paul addressing the Ephesians.

MYKONOS

A Myconian Windmill
Mykonos is one of the most cosmopolitan islands of the Cyclades Its name derives from the name of the hero Myconos who was descended from Apollo. According to the ancient Greek Mythology, Hercules killed the last giant by throwing the island on top of him.

MINOS THRONE
Minos Throne, Iraklion, Crete, Greece
Iraklion
A frequent expression encountered by the reader of Minoan Crete is that of the Minoan Palace. The term was first used by the British Archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans who excavated the site of Knossos in the beginning of the century, and is maintained ever since. The truth is that we know nothing about the form of government of Minoan Crete. There may have been a priest-king or priestess-queen or a board of priests. In the absence of written records, it is impossible to tell anything with certainty. Yet we are not helpless because archaeology can tell us something about the elusive Minoan society.
