Calypso Christmas and New Year
Sixteen day cruise aboard the SEABOURN PRIDE starting on December 21, 2001 from Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
Cruise the Atlantic Ocean, the Great Bahama Bank, Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda in British Virgin Islands, Marigot in St. Martin, Charlestown in Nevis, Frederiksted in St. Croix, Ponce in Puerto Rico, Gustavia in St. Barthelemy, Samana in Dominican Republic, Castries in St. Lucia, Roseau and Portsmouth in Dominica, returning in Fort Lauderdale.
Smaller and less busy than nearby Miami, Fort Lauderdale offers easy access to hotels, motorways and airports, which helps make getting to the ship more convenient.
The north coast of the mountainous island Jost Van Dyke is lined with imposing cliffs against which the Atlantic crashes in towering waves. By contrast, the tranquil beaches of the south coast offer the ideal locale for beachcombers.
In Marigot, anchor on the French side of this magnificent island, for one of the most exhilarating experiences in the Caribbean. Sailing buffs can join in a real race on a pair of multi-million dollar America's Cup Yachts, for a 12-metre "mini-regatta."
Golfers will enjoy the links at the 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones at Carambola. On the island of St. Croix, there are fine beaches, a lush stretch of rain forest and coral-lined coves for snorkeling.
This favoured anchorage of seasoned yachtsmen offers its very own natural wonder. Take a launch to "The baths" in Virgin Gorda, where you will witness the unforgettable sight of a giant sea-sculpted boulders and salt-water pools illuminated by the rays of the sun.
Tall, green and lush, St. Lucia is one of the truly untouched Caribbean isles. Fly above Les Pitons, the spectacular twin peaks, in a helicopter. Or drive up the winding road to the fishing village of Soufriere, and go on foot to see the mountain's volcanic fumaroles and bubbling mud pots up close.
From the sea, Nevis appears to be a perfect dark green cone, usually crowned with white clouds. At the foot of Mount Nevis, you will find beaches with calm waters for snorkeling and a lush rain forest trail for hiking.
In the waters around Dominica, parrot fish and angelfish dart among the corals and sponges. This rugged volcanic island is the ideal place for snorkelling, or hiking in the rain forest. The tranquil capital of Roseau remains pleasantly untouched by the demands of tourism.
This cruise is performed by SEABOURN CRUISES on board SEABOURN PRIDE running on the following dates during year 2001.
