Italy and Greek Islands I
Fourteen day cruise aboard the SEABOURN SPIRIT starting on July 12, 2001 from Civitavecchia, Italy.

Cruise Sorrento in Italy, Taormina in Sicily, Katakolon, Corfu, Galaxidhi, Piraeus, Monemvasia, Patmos, Skiathos and Volos (Meteora) in Greece, cruising the Athos Peninsula and Dardanelles, returning in Istanbul (Turkey).

A short coach ride from Civitavecchia, Rome is a city of unending possibilities. Optional tours reveal the extensive collections of the Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica, the ancient Forum and Colosseum or the Roman Castle Wine Villages in the nearby countryside.

The beautiful bay of Sorrento boasts beaches tucked away beside towering cliffs and colourful blossoms flourishing in the sea air. Admire the stunning Amalfi Coast. Or travel to Pompeii in the shadow of Mt. Vesuvius.

At Taormina with Mt. Etna as a backdrop, this chic resort is visually stunning. Conditions permitting, we'll anchor in the Bay of Naxos to partake in the pleasures of the ship's marina. If your heart's desire leads you ashore, enjoy shopping and dining on the Corso Umberto and visit the ancient Greco-Roman theatre still used today for open air concerts.

Katakolon is your gateway to Olympia, where the athletes of antiquity flocked to the games. Our tour includes the Gymnasium, the Palestra and the museum with its classical sculptures and relics from the Temple of Zeus, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

Corfu boasts some of the most stunning scenery in the Greek Isles. Drive along the coastline and through the mountainous interior to see the Achilleon Palace built by the Empress Elizabeth, join in an island celebration and feast, or explore the winding streets of Old Town.

Travel to Delphi where pilgrims once trekked to gain wisdom from the oracle. Even now, the ruins work magic for visitors. After your tour, enjoy charming Galaxidhi.

From the hill of the Acropolis to the National Archaeological Museum, Athens holds a multitude of treasures to explore.

Monemvasia is one of the idyllic sites where, conditions permitting, you'll enjoy sun and fun on the private decks of the ship's marina. Ashore, the island's medieval town seems to tumble down the island's sheer rock face to the, sea. A tour reveals Byzantine churches, a Venetian citadel and splendid views.

Visit the cave where St. John wrote the Book of Revelations and the nearby monastery with its priceless manuscripts and jewelled robes. Or take an insider's tour of Patmos including the 300-year-old House of Simandris.

Skiathos is an island of Sporades, which was an isolated agrarian one until the early 1970's. Today it is one of the most cosmopolitan islands in Greece.

Join fellow guests on an excursion to the villages at the foot of Mt, Pelion or take a day's journey to one of the most remarkable sights on earth. Built by monks and hermits in the Middle Ages, Meteora is an amazing series of aerial monasteries towering 900 feet above the plain.

Straddling the Golden Horn between Europe and Asia, this venerable city of Istanbul blends ageless antiquity with dazzling modernity. Visit in Agia Sofia, the Top Kapi and many more interesting places.

This cruise is performed by SEABOURN CRUISES on board SEABOURN SPIRIT running on the following dates during year 2001.
