In Sanary sur Mer, along the Cote d'Azur, nothing is so rare as a genuine fishing village. Strolling the inner harbour here, you'll see the men of the working fishing fleet going about their business as if they weren't a part of the world's most glamorous seacoast.
Lounge on a gorgeous beach in Calvi, stroll along the Marina or cross the drawbridge to the Genoese Citadel on the northern coast. A jeep excursion into the rugged massif rev (a good bit of Italian influence in the town of Calenza, Zillia and San Antonio.
In the picture-postcard Bay of Portofino, you anchor among local fishing boats and yachts. From the small pastel-colored piazza on the waterfront, narrow streets wind up to the church of ST George's for a breathtaking view.
