Yachtsman's Caribbean XV
Seven day cruise aboard the SEABOURN GODDESS I starting on December 08, 2001 from Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas.
Cruise Cruz Bay in St. John, Christiansted in St. Croix, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke in British Virgin Islands, Marigot in St. Martin and Gustavia in St. Barthelemy, returning in Charlotte Amalie.
The north coast of the mountainous island Jost Van Dyke is lined with imposing cliffs against which the Atlantic crashes in towering waves. By contrast, the tranquil beaches of the south coast offer the ideal locale for beachcombers.
It is probable that St. Barthelemy's vegetation was not studied before the island's Swedish occupation in 1784. Nevertheless, it is interesting to note that many species considered native to the West Indies were actually imported by the island's first European colonists. The coconut palm tree is a perfect example. A native of the Pacific islands it was the English, with commercial sights in mind, who were responsible for introducing this palm tree to the West Indies.
In Marigot, anchor on the French side of this magnificent island, for one of the most exhilarating experiences in the Caribbean. Sailing buffs can join in a real race on a pair of multi-million dollar America's Cup Yachts, for a 12-metre "mini-regatta."
Virgin Gorda, the favored anchorage of seasoned yachtsmen offers its very own natural wonder. Take a launch to "The Baths" where you will witness the unforgettable sight of giant sea sculpted boulders and salt-water pools illuminated by the rays of the sun.
With its sparkling beach resorts and bustling duty-free shops, Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas is a treasure trove in paradise. For quieter pleasures, take the ferry to the neighboring island of St. John.
Take a boat cruise to Buck Island, home to the only underwater U.S. National Monument, or cross the island to Christiansted's shops. With beautiful beaches, distilleries making Cruzan rum and one of the Caribbean's finest golf courses, St. Croix.
This cruise is performed by SEABOURN CRUISES on board SEABOURN GODDESS I running on the following dates during year 2001.
