Fjords and Iceland
Sixteen day cruise aboard the SEABOURN SUN starting on July 23, 2001 from Dover in UK.
Cruise the North and Norwegian Sea, Kirkwall in Orkney Islands, Reykjavik and Akureyri in Iceland, Magdalena Bay, Longyearbyen in Spitsbergen, Honningsvag, Hellesylt, Geiranger and Bergen in Norway, returning in Dover.
Dover is at one end of the North Downs and has several ranges of hills, two of which have fortresses dating from the medieval and Roman eras, as well as more modern (19th Century) times. Behind the town centre are the modern-day barracks, Dover's past and current commitments to the country have always included more than can be seen under the famous White Cliffs.
Visit the National Museum and Parliament House in Reykjavik. In the countryside, opt for a fascinating excursion to a garden fed by hot springs and a picturesque "Golden Waterfall."
Spitsbergen's main settlement nestles at the head of Advent Bay where seals, walrus, whales, and seabirds abound. Commune with nature - and take some spectacular photographs - in this land of the midnight sun.
Fascinating excursions reveal Bergen's 1,000-year history. See Rosenkrantz Tower before venturing to Troldhaugen and Fantoft Church. Or explore in depth at the Bergen Aquarium, Haakon's Hall and St. Mary's Church.
Hellesylt is a beautiful resort, overlooking the Norwegian fjords. It is the starting point for excursions through a land where waterfalls spread their lacework across the cliffs, and orchards are strung together in a garland of blossom.
Cruise through the "Queen of Fjords," past dashing waterfalls and tiny farms hung like swallows' nests on the steep granite cliffs. From the village of Geiranger, you can ascend Mt. Dalsnibba for a bird's-eye view of your ship in the fjord 5,000 feet below.
This cruise is performed by SEABOURN CRUISES on board SEABOURN SUN running on the following dates during year 2001.
