Docklands

Docklands has become one of the new and most thrilling tourist attractions in London. It has become the fastest growing destination in the city as it is now an exciting, diverse and multiethnic district.

Docklands has a cornucopia of delightful historical warehouses, old riverside pubs and extraordinary new developments to impress and amaze the traveller. Whether you are interested in the history of the area or how the location is being developed such as that of Canary Wharf, Docklands is a place to discover and enjoy.

Canary Wharf is one of London’s leading financial districts and it is dominated by the awesome One Canada Square Tower which is over 800-ft high. The tower is at the centre of the Isle of Dogs. Docklands and the Isle of Dogs are home to many of London’s Eastside diverse communities.

The Museum in Docklands has a permanent exhibition on the long involvement of the slave trade and the docklands, called London, Sugar and Slavery. Docklands is full of Exhibitions and events, street markets, and shopping. Eating whether it’s Chinese or Indian or anything else you enjoy, its all here. There are Art Galleries, Heritage, Festivals, Walks, Sports and Transport. Places to disappear to and explore, or meet and eat.

To get around Docklands one should travel on the Docklands Light Railway, this is not just so you may get about the area but a treat in itself, especially for children, for if you sit in the front carriage and the front seats it feels as if you are driving the train yourself.
