The 1898 Hotel in Barcelona is built in the structure that was once home to the Philippine Tobacco Company. It was built in 1881 by Catalan architect Josep Oriol Mestres.
After a series of remodeling in the early 20th century, the building was home to the offices of the tobacco company and several financial entities, until just a few years ago.
The charm and seduction of the newly opened establishement lie both within the impeccable restoration of its facade, as well as in the studied and elegant interior design executed by Rosa Rosello and her team, who have combined colonial touches with the finest materials and the latest trends in design, for a final look that blends beautifully with the exotic and elegant photographs of Maria Espeus.
The hotel has suites with private pool and gardens, and four categories of rooms, which are each soundproof and equipped with the finest finishing and technologies.
It compliments its facilities with a restaurant, bars, cafes, and a library access. To stay fit or just to relax, visit the hotel gym, with outdoor pool, solarium, and state-of-the-art spa.
The hotel has seven colonial function rooms, adjoining yet separate, with natural daylight with privileged views over La Rambla. Their decor follows their colonial style and history, conserving the original fine hardwoods and elements of the time.
In addition, there are also five separate meeting rooms, of which two can be partitioned. A fully equipped business centre with free internet is also at your disposal
