Located in a private park on the lake at the beginning of the famous Bahnhofstrasse, business, banking and shopping district, it is close to all cultural and tourist attractions, 20 minutes drive from International Airport and 5 minutes from the central railway station.
In 1844, Johannes Baur opened his second hotel in Zurich right beside the lake with an open view of the mountains. The building started on part of the old war harbour and was still more of a large villa then a hotel and served at first as an elegant residence for guests travelling incognito.
The Baur au Lac today is a property internationally renowned as a luxury hotel, an establishment steeped in over 150 years of tradition that has been owned by the same family for six generations. The family that today runs the hotel has been doing so, for half a century.
It features 125 freshly renovated rooms and suites all differently furnished giving a touch of elegance and including a wide range of amenities at your disposal.
For your dining experience you can choose between the large selections of dining on premises such as the French restaurant in elegant surrounding, The Pavillon restaurant with a "Southern" charm. Set between the hotel's private park and the idyllic river Schanzengraben and the terrace restaurant situated in the park for the summer months and for banquet occasions.
For your events and conferences the hotel provides a large choice of meeting and banqueting rooms that can accommodate up to 500 persons.
