Bayswater can only be described by one word, diversity, diversity and more diversity! It is an area of west London in the City of Westminster. It is a built-up district located over 3 miles and borders the north of Hyde Park over Kensington Gardens.
Bayswater is one of London's most cosmopolitan areas, with a substantial Greek community attracted by the Greek Orthodox Cathedral "Agia Sophia", not far from the Greek quarter is Whiteleys a large complex of shops from A to Z (Accessorize to Zara Childrens) Whiteleys is also about entertainment and food as it has both in its complex.
Many of the hotels such as the
Thistle Kensington Gardens are not far from this vicinity. There is also an Arab community as well as a number of Brazilians and Americans. The diversity of the population is swelled by Bayswater having the largest concentration of hotels in an area in London.
Bayswater includes in its quarter the High Streets of Queensway and Westbourne Grove, and also the area of Lancaster Gate. Many famous people have lived in Bayswater such as Sir Winston Churchill & Sir Alexander Fleming, and today people such as Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear fame and those of international repute which include Claudia Schiffer.
A wonderful corner of Bayswater is Little Venice which is a junction of three canals with many houseboats. Another attraction of Bayswater is the open air art show which occurs every Sunday on the railings of Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park.
