Paddington
Paddington is home to Paddington Road Station, which not only connects you to South Wales, to Berkshire (Reading) to parts of Thames Valley, (west London) but now also to Heathrow Airport on the Heathrow Express which takes about 15 minutes.

Two other things that Paddington is well known for is St Mary’s Hospital and its Police Station. St Mary’s Hospital has been the centre of medical innovations, and a forerunner to medical research, penicillin was discovered at the hospital as well as Heroin (diacetylmorphine) in 1874, their research has led to the advance of vaccinations, minimally invasive surgery, the chemical structure of antibodies, and forensic medicine to mention but a few.

The Fleming Museum (Alexander Fleming discovered Penicillin) has reconstructed the actual crammed laboratory where the discovery was made. The Paddington Green Police station is open to the public 24 hours a day, and it’s the most important high-security police station in the United Kingdom.

Paddington is probably known the world over as the station where the fictional Paddington Bear (books by Michael Bond) was found and adopted. If you are looking for things to do with the children in or near Paddington, take them to the "leisurebox" ice ring in Queensway about ten minutes away, walk around Paddington and look at all the statues such as that of Paddington bear, situated at the Station itself, or 'Walking Man and Standing Man' by Sean Henry in Sheldon Square. There are usually lots of events during the summer, dancing of different types, music going on in both Sheldon Square and Norfolk Square.

If you are a lady and are looking for a spa with a difference try The Porchester Spa it’s a beautiful 1920’s art deco spa, with an old fashioned oasis of calm. Dining in Paddington can vary from Japanese to Chinese to South East Asian Cuisine to Russian.

Hotels also vary in and around Paddington there are those of class such as Quality Crown Hotel Paddington, Shaftesbury Hyde Park Paddington Hotel, to the best budget hotels such as the Nayland Hotel, to the Norfolk Plaza Hotel and others.

Locations around Paddington for shopping, entertainment and culture which will please all visitors are Queensway, Oxford Street, Camden Town and Kensington.
