Costa do Sol (Sun Coast), to the north side, there are wonderful beaches in the coastal cities such as
Itaipu, Itaipuacu, Marica, Saquarema, Araruama,
Cabo Frio,
Buzios and many others.
In the mountain region, the State of Rio offers summer holiday residences in Itaipava,
Petropolis,
Teresopolis, Friburgo, very near to the capital. In the Itatiaia National Park region, the cities Itatiaia, Visconde de Maua and Penedo have many hotels.
