Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and Southern Atlantic Islands Province in Argentina is separated from the mainland by the Straits of Magellan. The province usually just called Tierra del Fuego forms a part of the greater Patagonia area.

The area was first discovered by Ferdinand Magellan in 1520 who named it first Land of the smokes and then land of fires (Tierra del Fuego).
