All constructions in Penedo, churches, convents and mansions from the 17th and 18th centuries provide a real trip to the past, to colonial Brazil.

The Portuguese and Dutch contributions, as well as those by the Franciscan missionaries, can be seen in the baroque architecture of the convents and churches, which comprise the city's National Historic Heritage.
