Sharjah is the only Emirate that has banned alcohol, whether for sale, possession or consumption. It also has very strict decency laws, the strictest in the UAE, there is also quiet a modest dress code for both men and women. Mixing between unmarried men and women is illegal. If a man and a woman are not in a legal relationship they should not be alone in public places or suspicious times and circumstances. The beaches have dress restrictions and women need to be suitably attired.
