Liverpool Street

Liverpool Street Station (also called London Liverpool Street) is a very busy station coming only second to Waterloo on the number of visitors it receives. It is a major railway station as well as being part of London Underground.

Liverpool Street Station is at the northern end of the City of London and connects London to the East of England including Stansted Airport, and Cambridge. The underground at Liverpool Street has four of the major lines running through it, the Central, Circle, Hammersmith & City and the Metropolitan line.

The first train to run from the station was in 1874. It was the first place to be bombed in World War I and was also hit in the Second World War. The station has been used in various films such as Mission: Impossible with Tom Cruise, in books as well as in some BBC programs.

The Barbican Theatre and Art Gallery are in the vicinity of Liverpool Street, the theatre has become a top location for international theatre and the gallery has two exhibitions in a year. 93 Feet East is not only a cinema but as a venue it holds music and exhibits. There are the markets near Liverpool Street, Portobello Road, Brick Lane, Spitafields and Petticoat Lane market.

Food connoisseurs can enjoy a great variety from around the world in Liverpool Street for example, Oriental, Indian, Japanese, Lebanese, Scottish, French to name but a few. If you are shopping in and near Liverpool Street for clothes, you will find most of the High Street Brands such as M&S, Next, Oasis, and others.
