Achaia has two sides to visit: the coast side villages with the exceptional beaches and the verdant mountainous hinterland, with forests full of chestnut trees and pine trees where you will find Kalavrita.
The journey is quite magical especially using the railway. For those who prefer skiing there is the Helmos Skiing Resort during winter.
Patras is the capital of the county and the biggest city in Peloponnese, a major port of trade between Greece - Italy and the rest of Europe. The city is also well known for the Carnival.
