Acton means "oak farm" or "farm by oak trees", and is derived from the Anglo-Saxon ac (oak) and tun (farm), and its an ancient village mentioned in the
Doomsday Book, a health spa because of fresh springs in the 17th century, and a major area for laundries due to the soft water in the 19th century.
