The 16th century castle built on the seafront to protect the town from Saracene invasions, the Medieval Bridge that, according to legend, Hannibal crossed during the second Punic war, and the Baroque church steeples poking above the rooftops bear testimony of the past.
Toward the second half of the 1800s, Rapallo became dedicated to tourism, quickly becoming a favorite destination of prominent guests, thanks to its lovely surroundings and mild climate.
Today Rapallo is equipped to satisfy the needs of the modern tourist: prestigious hotels, restaurants, an 18-hole golf course and other sports facilities.
