Dahlwitz-Hoppegarten is a suburb located east of the city centre of Berlin near the road that leads to the border with Poland.
The big advantage of this area is a fact that it is more like countryside than urban district. The forest is nearby and you may feel very relaxed staying just few kilometres from the centre of
Berlin.
The Hoppegarten Race Track traces its origin to 1867, when its founders included
Kaiser Wilhelm I. Boasting three grandstands and 65 hectares in grounds, it is home to about 200 horses in training and its post parade is considered one of the
best in Germany, with the horses led past a lightly raked stand offering a large number of seats. Last but not least, overheated summer race goers can cool off in the
large beer garden in the midst of the spectator area.
The season opens on 15 May with the
Hoppegarten Sprint Cup, and other highlights include the
Berlin GR Trophy on 14 August and the
Classic Open Air concerts throughout June and July. Several other race dates round out the annual calendar.
